The
Satterfield
House
Located in
Mount Airy, NC
WHO WE BENEFIT
The Sandy Level Community will benefit from the restoration for the Satterfield House by providing a community center for all to enjoy. It will include a kitchen, various African-American works of art, a bedroom and living room remodeled as to how it would have looked in 1892, all while reminding visitors of the historic importance of the house. As the house progresses, the other four acres that the house is located on will be turned into gardens and local resources for schools and markets.
Sandy Level Community
Surry County Schools

In conjunction with Surry County Schools, students who participate in classes dealing with carpendry and culinary studies will be able to use the Satterfiled House as a learning site. While students learn historic remodeling through carpendry classes, other students will be able to improve their cooking skills.

Mount Airy Historic Homes
In addition to the Historic Gertrude Smith House and the Historic Mackie House, the Historic Satterfield House once completed will be listed as a home on the Historic Homes Tour in Mount Airy. Although Mount Airy is widely known for the Andy Griffith Show and the Yadkin Valley Wine Region, the expansion of the Satterfield House will open up opportunities for Mount Airy to promote history.
